Working closely with the homeowners and their family from the start, this project features a laneway suite and main house addition. The design of this 1-bedroom 1-bath laneway suite is sculpted by the laneway suite by-laws, maximizing interior space while remaining at a reasonable scale for the property and laneway. The ground floor hosts a garage while the second floor offers a well-appointed living, kitchen, and dining space with 3-piece bathroom and principal bedroom. The rear addition off of the main house mimics the cladding of the laneway suite at the rear to create a cohesive design language.
The Strathmore Laneway Suite and rear addition demonstrate how skillful planning can supplement family income, add lasting value to a property, and provide long-term housing flexibility.
