The owners of this unique lot in the heart of Kensington Market approached our team seeking to construct a laneway suite that would maintain two parking spaces for the existing residence, while maximizing rental value for the new unit on the lot. Situated at the terminus of a busy laneway, this unique structure provides an open carport at grade aligning with the laneway access with a well appointed open concept living space above. Glazing is oriented at the upper floor to preserve sight lines down the lane while drenching the living space in daylight. The rear yard elevation employs an angular reveal and hair-pin column to create a unique form in response to the challenging site conditions.
