The Melchior Garden Suite epitomizes simplicity, minimalism, and holistic design. The long-time owners of this property envisioned a garden suite that would add value to their lot and provide a unique, separate living space. As such, the proposed 850 square-foot design revolves around priorities associated with energy efficiency, spatial comfort, and access to outdoor space.
The suite welcomes daylight from three sides and frames views to the spacious backyard. The building’s geometry is derived from the functional need for an outdoor space wrapping the suite and a strong desire for a Muji-style / Kyoto Machi-ya townhouses inspired exterior design.
